A clearer communication strategy… I have a technology background and even I am overwhelmed with all the online communication models …websites, blogs, facebook, twitter & more.
It has only been this year that I now have clarity for myself.
Ok. So what is happening with the newsletters, tips, tricks & strategies going forward.
Emails/Newletters – I have invested in a new email marketing service from infusionsoft which I will be setting up over February. You may have already noticed the different from address. Communication will be predominantly from info@businessgrowthleaders.com.au (a mouthful for everyone), or geoff@geoffcurrie.com depending on the nature of communication.
Previously any newsletters & articles were only sent via email format and not published on the web anywhere (Hmmmm that doesn’t seem very leveraged). So this year, I will be publishing articles on a blog then the email will refer to them with a summary.
I am looking at doing a newsletter no more than monthly…even if blog articles are more regular. Email marketing … no more than fortnightly if not monthly. I am getting sick of marketing emails spamming my inbox constantly and I am sure you are also.
Blog – I don’t know why I have resisted publishing my ideas & concepts on the web for so long. I guess, one of the things that I didn’t want to do is have a blog for each business I own and be publishing all over the place. One of my goals this year is to build “Brand Geoff”. So all blogging will be done on geoffcurrie.com and rss (a newsfeed) to other relevant sites.
Look out for about 2 articles per month. So, along with a few other weblog entries, there should be enough new content to be compelling. This will start early February after I have polished then current ones.
BGL website – This will stay as is and basically an electronic brochure at the moment, with ecommerce & community as I finish off some of the business development products I am creating.
Facebook – This is interesting… I see so many people looking to do business here, but I just don’t get it (yet) facebook is social networking not business networking. My family & friends are interested in what is going on in our lives and with the kids. I am not so sure my business colleagues or clients are … and visa versa.
To that end my facebook account is just a personal catch up with friends & family … no business. I may create fan pages for each of my businesses for the public business stuff at a later date.
Twitter – Forget it … I tried all the regular updates etc … 1 day and I was going insane. I don’t know how others do it but good luck to them. I have a business to run.
SendOutCards – Huh? Why a greeting card strategy for online? Actually this product is an online product that ends up offline. And it is such an amazing business communication tool I just had to include it. My initial results both personally & professionally have completely change my perspective and my life. I’ll tell you more about it in an email in the next few weeks.
There you have it. My communication strategy for 2010.
You can be assured we will be communicating again soon.
